Honoring Past Coaches

The Cy Fritz Foundation is an initiative that allows athletes to participate in personal development and competitive opportunities through the collection of donations. Named after former Coach Eugene Cy Fritz, the foundation was established almost two years ago in January 2016. Since then, the foundation has launched a four-phase plan alongside its donation initiative in order to preserve the history of Millersville University’s cross country and track & field programs, titled “The Legacy Initiative.”
The four phases include putting together a pictorial history of the two teams that stem all the way back to 1912, implementing a “permanent honor” award for Fritz in order to immortalize his accomplishments within the University, beginning the tradition of an annual reunion with past cross country and track & field alumni, and recording interviews with past coaches such as Art Hulme and Fritz in order to document the rich history of these programs.
