SAEM Provides Dinner for Students

A free Thanksgiving dinner was made possible for all Millersville University students on Thursday, November 16, thanks to members of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management (SAEM). Staff within SAEM donated food and time to buy, cook and then serve the meal. Approximately 130 students were served a meal of corn, green beans, stuffing, mashed potatoes, turkey, gravy and a huge selection of desserts ranging from pumpkin pie to homemade applesauce.

The meal was served in the “Hub” which is in the basement of First United Methodist Church on campus. The area also houses “Campus Cupboard” which provides free food to students in need.

 

Dr. Downey Helps Commemorate 30th Anniversary of Closing of Pennhurst

On November 15, Dr. Dennis Downey, a history professor at Millersville University, organized a program with the Historical Society of Pennsylvania to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the closing of Pennhurst State School and Hospital. Over 200 people were in attendance including important dignitaries and professionals associated with the deinstitutionalization of Pennhurst. Millersville University has taken a lead on this program as well as other disability rights programs in Pennsylvania.
