A massive tornado is scheduled to touch down in your town. Are you prepared? The Center for Disaster Research and Education (CDRE) will host the 4th annual Preparedness Day on Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at various venues around the Student Memorial Center (SMC).
The purpose of the event is to share and provide information for the University and greater community on disaster preparedness. The event is held during the month of September in recognition of National Preparedness Month. During September many national, state and local public safety agencies and organizations promote preparedness with an all-hazards approach.
This year’s event will include representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, Lancaster Emergency Management Agency, Blue Rock Fire Rescue, MU Police Department, National Weather Service, Department of Health, Mennonite Disaster Service, Lancaster Community Animal Response Team, Keystone Wildfire Crew Inc., Middle Creek Search & Rescue, (CDRE), MU Sustainability Committee, MU Student Chapter of the International Association of Emergency Managers, MU Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society, MU Student Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers, Community Emergency Response Team and Amber’s Amazing Balloons.
Food and drinks have been donated for the event by Blue Rock Fire Rescue, Turkey Hill and Herr’s.
