The Writing Center is now open in its new home in the Francine G. McNairy Library and Learning Forum.Β The grand opening of the center was held Monday, Sept. 18. Faculty, staff and student employees of the Writing Center and McNairy Library were on hand for the opening.
Along with a brand new sign, which can now be seen outside of McNairy 106, the Writing Center will have new computers, furniture, a whiteboard wall and much more. The hope is that a new space for the Writing Center will make it easier and more convenient for students to get writing and tutoring help. The Writing Center has had over 700 individual appointments in the past few years and with the new location they are hoping to help even more students.
The Writing Centerβs goal is not to rewrite and proofread papers, but to help students become better writers. Dr. William Archibald, a faculty member in the Department of English, currently runs the Writing Center and trains student employees to help other students with their writing.
