Recent activities of Dr. Halawa

Dr. Abdelhadi Halawa, Wellness and Sport Sciences, recently completed an evaluative review of a textbook published by Pearson Education. The book titled “Health: The Basics-Diversity in Health,”addresses the current health issues pertaining to college students with diverse needs and different sociocultural backgrounds. The book focuses on health behavior change, learning styles, and lifestyle management skills.

Additionally, Halawa delivered two presentations this summer. The first, titled “Ibn al-Nafis vs. Galen, Servetus, Colombo, and Harvey: Making the Case for the Medieval Discovery of the Pulmonary Blood Circulation” at the International Journal of Arts and Sciences (IJAS) Conference at McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, May 29-June 2, 2017. The second presentation titled “Childhood Obesity: A Global Threat to the Child’s Physical and Emotional Well-Being” at the 4th Annual Global Well-Being and Social Change Conference: Building Resilience, Protecting from Harm, and Fostering Well-Being Among Our World’s Children” at the Millersville University’s School of Social Work’s Learning Institute, Ware Center, Lancaster, PA, June 7-9,  2017.
