New Academic Advisement Director

David Henriques will be joining Student Affairs and Enrollment Management (SAEM) as the new Academic Advisement and Student Development Director on Aug. 28, 2017.  Henriques brings with him 25 years of higher education experience and his mantra “success is a choice.”

Henriques has served a variety of faculty and administrative roles supporting student transition, student success, student persistence, retention and advising support. He was the Associate Dean in the School of Academic Programs and Services at Shippensburg University where he oversaw their program for undeclared students which was comprised on average 4o percent of entering students. Prior to Shippensburg, he worked at Indiana State University and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Henriques earned his bachelor’s in psychology and his master’s in clinical psychology from Millersville. He also has a master’s in adult education and an Ed.D. in higher education administration from Widener University. His research interests focus on advising, student resiliency, learning communities, and programming for undecided/undeclared students.
