Forum on immigration and refugees on May 2.

Millersville University (MU) students from the academic-student working group COURAGE will present a public community forum on immigration and refugees on May 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Ware Center at 42 N. Prince St., Lancaster, Pa.

Members of the immigrant and refugee communities will share their stories and educators from MU will provide background information on the historical and political aspects of those topics. The event is open to the public and designed to inspire discussion and advance knowledge on pertinent topics in today’s society.

Leroy Hopkins is one of the key educators participating as a member of the panel and community discussion. Hopkins is a nationally respected scholar in Afro-German social and historical relations, board member at Lancaster History.org, former chairperson on the Language Curriculum Committee of the College Language Association and current president of the African American Historical Society of South Central Pennsylvania.

COURAGE operates under the University’s Honors College, a co-sponsor of the public forum. Please join the students of COURAGE in this public community event that promotes civic engagement and knowledge of the global community.
