Room, Board and Fees Set for 2017-18 at Millersville University

Keeping costs at 1.6 percent increase

Room, board and fees at Millersville University for the 2017-18 school year will increase by 1.6 percent. The increase was approved by the Millersville University Council of Trustees (COT) at their meeting on March 22. Room and board will be $6,200 a semester, an increase of $88; a 1.4 percent increase. General fees will be $1,062 a semester, an increase of $24; a 2.3 percent increase.

Fees for graduate students will increase 2.2 percent to $1,028.25 per semester.

“While tuition won’t be set until this summer by the Board of Governors, we worked to keep room and board increases to a minimum,” says Roger Bruszewski, vice president of finance and administration at Millersville University.

In other action, the COT approved annual payments of $5,000 to the Blue Rock Regional Fire Company and $3,000 to Lancaster Community Safety Coalition. They also approved emeritus status for Dr. Susan DiBartolomeis, professor of biology from 1991-2016; Dr. William Dorman, professor of communication and theatre from 1985-2016; and for Dr. Kenneth Shields, professor of English from 1981–2016.

The COT also approved the naming of four new endowments for the Millersville University Foundation;

  • Instructional Equipment Endowment: to support purchase and maintenance of instructional equipment.
  • William J. Killough Foreign Language Faculty Support Quasi Endowment: to support the faculty of the Foreign Languages Department.
  • Susan P. Luek Psychology High Impact Practices Endowment: to support student-faculty research needs within the department of psychology.
  • Soar to Greatness Scholarship Endowment: to support scholarships for Millersville students.
