Career Week will take place from Feb. 27 through March 3 at the ‘Ville

career-weekThroughout the semester, Millersville University hosts a range of events, workshops, panels and programs designed to help students get ahead and prepare for their lives after graduation in the working world. One import event is Career Week, which is hosted annually by Experiential Learning and Career Management (ELCM). This year, Career Week will take place from Feb. 27 through March 3.

This week-long series helps students focus on their career plan while exploring available job opportunities. The activities and workshops include interview tips, internship and job opportunities, resume feedback, panels and alumni networking.

Monday, Feb. 27

Creating a Personal Brand: Your Resume
12 – 1 p.m.
SMC, Room 118

Learn how to improve your resume for maximum impact and effectiveness.

Professionalism in the Workplace: How to avoid…”You are terminated.”
5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
SMC, Room 118

Human Resource professionals will provide concrete examples and stories from their perspectives as those who assist and facilitate professionalism in the workplace.

 

Tuesday, Feb. 28

LinkedIn? A Breakthrough in your Career

Creating a professional online presence on LinkedIn may enhance your career and job search. 

The Interview – Before, During and After

A panel of human resource professionals will discuss how job candidates can be successful during their interviews.

 

Wednesday, March 1

National Service Panel: Impacting Communities Across the Globe

This panel presentation will help you to find out about life-defining experiences serving and making a difference both abroad and domestically.

 Making the Transition from Academic to Professional Success:
Practical Tips for Career Development

A panel of alumni and professional mentors will share their experiences on how best to prepare and position oneself for finding a job, creating a resume, interviewing, and then advancing in a chosen career.

 

Thursday, March 2

Mock Interview and Feedback Sessions
11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
SMC, Reighard Multipurpose Room

Participate in a mock interview with professional representatives and receive feedback on successful interviewing skills.

Careers in Marketing and Business Development
3 – 5 p.m.

A panel of Central Pennsylvania marketing and business development professionals will discuss their rise through the ranks, beginning with their education and the path that led to their current positions.

 

Friday, March 3

Career Exploration for First Year Students
12 – 1 p.m.

Learn about career exploration resources and receive advice and guidance to help you on your career path.
