Wide variety of events throughout the month of February

MLK Celebration2Millersville University will be celebrating Black History Month with a wide variety of events throughout the month of February.

Here is a full list of currently scheduled events. Please check back for updates. All questions about specific events should be directed to the sponsoring organization.

MLK Celebration: Ernest Green & Terrence Roberts

When: Thursday, Feb. 2; 7:30-9 p.m.

An Evening with Step Afrika

When: Monday, Feb. 13; 7 p.m.

Where: Reighard Multi-Purpose Room, Student Memorial Center

Sponsored: The F.U.S.I.O.N , Black Student Union, Cultural Greek Council (CGC) and CSIL

About: Step Afrika! is the first professional dance Company in the world dedicated to the tradition of stepping. The company began in 1994 and has grown into an international touring company presenting performances, residencies and workshops worldwide. Each year, the Company performs in 10 countries for more than 50,000 people and touches 23,000 youth through its arts education programs. The performance will begin at 7 p.m. and be followed by a Meet and Greet with the performers at 8:30 p.m.

 

Pillow Talk: A Conversation on Sex, Love and Relationships

When: Tuesday, Feb. 14; 7 p.m.

The Citamard Players Presents: “ Home” A #BlackLivesMatter Play, a Production by Rasheed Wesley

When: Wednesday, Feb. 15; 6 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 16; 6 p.m.

Where: Dutcher Hall

Sponsored: The Citamard Players

About: “Home” is a play written and directed by Rasheed Wesley, an English major and active member of the Citamard Players. The work was inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, and both historic and current violence against members of the American black community. It seeks to bring clarity to the struggles faced by people of color, and to open a dialogue between different groups. The play will begin at 6 p.m. and be followed by panel discussions on race-related issues.
