Registrations are now being accepted for the third annual American Dream Scholarship Ride, to be held Saturday, September 17 at Millersville University.

The American Dream Scholarship Ride is part of the “Bike Millersville” benefit ride on September 17 and is a chance to showcase the University’s efforts to attain a national ‘Bicycle Friendly’ designation.

Cyclists: 5, 10, 20, 30 and 60 mile rides; Walkers: 1, 2 and 6.5 mile routes. Registration deadline: 9/9/16. Rider registration fee: $35; walkers: $25 (for 1 or a group of 6). No on-site registration on event day. Cyclists must be 18. Included: cue sheets, support vehicles, food/rest stops and lunch.

The goals of the benefit ride are to provide scholarships for Millersville University students so they may achieve their educational goals and afford them the opportunity to live the American Dream; support community awareness efforts on the environmental and health benefits of bicycling; showcase the Millersville region as a bicycling destination and to promote the University as a bicycle-friendly campus.  In 2015, American Dream Scholarships were awarded to five Millersville University students. The 2016 fundraising goal for this event is $25,000 with lead sponsors, to date, Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority and the Millersville University Alumni Association.
