MSW-main-picThe Millersville University master’s degree program in social work (MSW) has been ranked 39 on a list of 50 of the most affordable MSW programs in the East for 2016 by Best Social Work Programs (BSW). The evaluation was limited to programs accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). It ranked programs in New England, Mid-Atlantic and southeastern states with the lowest published graduate tuition and fees, as provided by NCES College Navigator.

“We are thrilled that our MSW program (offered in partnership with Shippensburg University) has been acknowledged for its affordability and very high quality,” said Dr. Heather Girvin, MSW Program Co-Coordinator in Millersville’s School of Social Work. “The essence of our success is our bright, diligent and professional student body.  It is fitting that their quality is recognized, and validating for faculty, who endeavor to ensure that top-notch education is accessible.”

According to Best Social Work Program, in the field of social work, those with an MSW degree have higher earnings potential and opportunities for advancement compared to those with an undergraduate degree in social work.

In ranking MU, Best Social Work Programs’ editors stated “Classrooms offer state-of-the-art technology and curriculum taught by distinguished professors.”

Other Pennsylvania State System schools in the top 50 include California University of Pennsylvania, Edinboro, West Chester and Kutztown.

The Best Social Work Programs’ mission is to share their expert knowledge on the academic and career options offered in the social work field to assist students in achieving their professional goals of becoming a social worker or advancing their career in the rewarding area of social work.
