The new edition of the award-winning book, “50 American Heroes Every Kid Should Meet,” by Dr. Dennis Denenberg, professor emeritus, and Lorraine Roscoe will be released in the fall of 2016.
Ten new heroes will be added to the 2016 edition based on a public online voting contest. There is a list of 20 heroes from which voters will select 10 that they would like to see featured in the new edition. Included in the list are Barack Obama, Mark Zuckerberg, Oprah Winfrey, Louis Armstrong, Arthur Ashe, Steven Spielberg, Sonia Sotomayor, Mark Twain, Bill and Melinda Gates and more.
Proceeds of the new edition will go towards “Diana’s Dreamers: Determined to Defeat Breast Cancer,” an endowment fund operated through Millersville University. The endowment is named for Diana Denenberg Durand, Denenberg’s sister, who studied mathematics at MU and graduated in 1967. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1989 and battled the disease for 18 years.
Voting closes on Oct. 31. You can help by voting and spreading the word to your family and friends on social media using “#vote4yourhero.” To vote for your hero, please visit www.vote4yourhero.com.
