Dr. Bill Dorman, communication and theater professor at Millersville University, was named as National Broadcasting Society’s (NBS) National Advisor of the Year at the annual convention in Atlanta from March 24 to 29.

Dorman traveled with Millersville’s NBS students to the Atlanta convention to network, gain professional development skills and share ideas with others in the field of broadcast media.

The award was announced on the last night of the convention at the award ceremony. “It is a great honor,” said Dorman. “My chapter makes their hard work look easy, which I believe is the definition of professionalism.”

Many of Millersville’s NBS students thought Dorman deserved the award. “Dr. Dorman is at all of our meetings and our events,” said Julie Florek, president of Millersville’s chapter of NBS. “He gives us ideas and ways to improve our work and prepare for our career. He treats all of us like family and is there for us when we need him.”

“He shows genuine care for the students,” said Mark Yang, a senior broadcasting major. “He’s always willing to help you out if you are need of guidance or advice.”

“Winning National Advisor of the Year is great for his career,” said Joe Gratz, alumni chair of NBS. “After all of the hard work he has put in to our chapter, he deserves this.”
