Millersville Student Recognized in National Competition

Emily Clawson Takes Flux Award

Millersville University senior Emily Clawson, from Claymont, Del., placed second in the Web/Interactive design category of the Flux Student Design Competition, an annual nationwide motion design competition held by American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Blue Ridge.

Students who complete undergraduate and graduate school projects, freelance and pro-bono work are eligible to enter this yearly competition. Clawson’s project, “Twitter Explainer Video,” was completed during an independent study over the fall 2014 semester with James A. Pannafino, associate professor of art & design at Millersville.

“Emily put in multiple hours each week on the concept and development of her Twitter Explainer video,” said Pannafino. Clawson’s work went up against students from well known universities, such as the University of North Carolina, the University o f Kansas and Temple University.

“I am extremely proud of Emily’s award,” said Pannafino. “It is another example of the quality work that our Millersville design students in the art & design department can do.”

The “Twitter Explainer Video” is displayed on Flux’s website (http://www.flux14.aigablueridge.org/) as well as at the Blue Elephant Gallery of the Griffin Art Center in Frederick, Md.
