Millersville Holds “On the Spot” Acceptance Days

Millersville has been conducting “Instant Decision Days” for high school students.

Millersville University is standing out to prospective students with their unique acceptance process. The University has been conducting “Instant Decision Days” for high school students, which means students can be accepted on the spot.

The program goes along with President John Anderson’s new strategic plan, Our Bold Path. The plan intends to increase student enrollment at the University to 10,000 by fall 2020 and increase out-of-state enrollment by 400 additional students.

“The admissions office has a comprehensive recruitment plan in place that is directly tied to the strategic plan,” said Katy Ferrier, director of admissions. “The Instant Decision Day program is one of the initiatives we have put in place to help us reach this goal. We also intend for it to provide a more streamlined admissions process for our prospective students. ”

So far, 15 high schools have participated in the program this fall. “Each year we try to expand the amount of students and high schools that participate,” said Ferrier. A few of the schools that participated in the program this year include Penn Manor High School, Council Rock High School South, Greencastle-Antrim High School and Washington Township High School.

To participate, prospective students first submit an online Millersville application. In coordination with their high school counselor, students bring an official transcript and SAT scores to an admissions meeting with a representative from Millersville. After the presentation, the student meets individually with the representative to discuss the decision.
