Student Veterans Association Has New Location

Mercer House is the new home of the Millersville University’s Student Veterans Association.

Mercer House

Millersville University’s Student Veterans Association has a new home—the Mercer House.

“The Mercer House provides a one-stop shop for veteran benefits and any questions they may have,” said Matt Shade, president of the Student Veterans Association. “It provides a place for veterans to share past experiences in service with other veterans and a quiet study place. The Student Veterans Association is thankful that there is finally a dedicated place to hold meetings.”

The goal of the Student Veterans Association is to provide a place for students and veterans to receive support and assistance in attending and successfully graduating from college. The house will also serve as a way of supporting families of soldiers who are already deployed or preparing for deployment in military service.

Mercer House is located on 28 West Cottage Ave.  For more information about the Student Veterans Association, contact Matt Shade at mjshade@millersville.edu or call 484-225-6977.

Hello, Matthew Shade or whomever else may be reading this e-mail. I work at the Ware and Winter Centers of Millersville University, and I want to let you know of two opportunities for MU vets and their families. Firstly, we have a Fam Fun Fest of shows for children at both arts centers. We’d be happy to give FREE tix to the children of veterans. Secondly, we are starting a FREE piano program at the Winter Center on Saturdays specifically for veterans – particularly those who are dealing with physical or emotional issues. This is an evidence-based program developed by the Yamaha Music and Wellness program for the well-being of veterans and no experience whatsoever is needed to participate. It’s mostly fun.
I would love to speak to someone further about these programs. Please write back. Thanks and best wishes. Barry
