Governor Tom Corbett recently announced that Olayinka Osibodu of Harrisburg, Pa. has been appointed as the new student member of the Millersville University Council of Trustees (COT).  Osibodu is a junior majoring in sociology, with a minor in government. Her role as student trustee for Millersville University will be to act as a liaison between the student body and the COT when it comes to addressing issues or concerns about their experience at Millersville University. She will hold this position until she graduates from Millersville University.

“Getting this position helped build my confidence and presented a sense of urgency for me to be more responsible,” Osibodu said.

Osibodu has a strong interest in government and political affairs and plans to become a lawyer after completing her college education. “Through this experience I hope to gain exposure to a new professional world, better leadership skills, humility from serving people and more knowledge about Millersville protocol,” said Osibodu. “I want to leave the position knowing I made Millersville University a better place.”

She assumes her duties as student trustee on May 19, after current student member Shane McGrady graduates. Osibodu’s first COT meeting will be in June.

The trustee’s responsibilities include making recommendations to the chancellor for the appointment and dismissal of the president and approving the university budget, new academic programs, contracts and fees other than tuition.
