9/11  Remembered

On campus, members of the University community share a moment of silence during the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

Dr. Dennis Denenberg, professor emeritus of elementary education, read a passage from his book, “50 American Heroes Every Kid Should Meet,” on September 11, as part of a tribute event, “Never Forget 9/11…The Spirit of America,” held at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster. Denenberg was joined by co-author Lorraine Roscoe, associate director of financial development at Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center. The book includes a section on 9/11 heroes.

In addition, Millersville University’s Marching Band, represented by 80 students, performed during the “Never Forget 9/11…The Spirit of America” tribute event on September 11.

WIXQ Cleans Up

  Calling All Authors!

Millersville University’s Alumni Association and the Soar to Greatness Campaign are hosting a book signing event, “Author Author,” for authors who are alumni, retired and/or current faculty or staff of the University. The book signing will be held during homecoming weekend on Saturday, October 29, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. in the Student Memorial Center.

University-related authors are invited to “Author Author” to share their achievements in and books about a variety of topics. The Millersville community can meet the authors, get signatures and purchase the books. A children’s book reading is also scheduled, along with costumed characters to meet the attendees.

Authors are asked to bring a dozen of each of their books they want to sell/sign, as well as display items about the book(s) and pens for signatures. They are also asked to donate a copy of their book to Millersville University’s library for the special University collection. Each author should submit a PDF or similar file of the book cover, of each book, to use for promotional purposes before and during the event, and submit to Steve DiGuiseppe at mualumni@millersville.edu, by October 7.

If you’re a Millersville University-related author and would like to participate in the event or would like more information about “Author Author,” contact the alumni office before October 7, at 717-872-3352 or mualumni@millersville.edu.
