“Peter Anders is a strong leader who comes to Millersville University with a record of solving problems, working with diverse communities and being a good communicator and facilitator,” said Breaux.  “I am pleased that he will be overseeing the safety of our campus community as he brings to the position strong leadership experience in law enforcement.  In addition, he is a Millersville alumnus, who graduated in 2002 with a psychology major, and former student leader who is familiar with our campus and our police department.”

Anders has been with Lancaster City Police since 1990.  During that time he has moved from serving as an officer in various units to becoming a detective, sergeant, lieutenant and now a captain.  He has won numerous awards including the 2010 and 2000 Kauffman Award, the 2009 Steven Mentzer Award and the 1998 Lancaster County Human Relations Commission Officer of the Year Award.

“I’m excited to be coming back to the Millersville campus and to join the solid police force here,” said Anders.  “I believe my strong law enforcement and community contacts will be an asset to the campus community and help drive us forward in the coming years.”

Anders replaces Wayne Silcox who retired in July after 25 years with the University.
