Millersville’s NBS Receives Honors

Millersville’s NBS chapter won nine first place production awards, five honorable mentions and a rookie of the year award at this year’s regional conference.

Twenty-three of Millersville’s National Broadcasting Society (NBS) students used their skills to create multiple award-winning productions at this year’s regional conference. It was held at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, November 12-14. Millersville’s NBS chapter won nine first place production awards, five honorable mentions and a rookie of the year award.

Millersville students received the following awards:

Shawn Eckert, a senior from Pottstown, Pa., took two first place awards, news package and video program opening. He also received an honorable mention in the news feature segment category.

Scott Davies, a senior from Bel Air, Md., won for video documentary and honorable mention for video drama program.

Jessica Do, a junior from Hatfield, Pa., produced first place for video commercial and video feature segment as well as an honorable mention in the news package category.

Kimberly Landis, a junior from New Holland, Pa., took first for video sports segment and music video as well as an honorable mention for video sports program.

Jordan Kuhns, a junior from Harleysville, Pa., won first place for audio sports play by play and honorable mention for video sports play by play program.

Blake Davis, a junior from Palmyra, Pa., won first place for video live performance.

Rebecca Knier, a freshman from Wrightsville, Pa., was selected as the Regional Rookie of the Year. Her accomplishments included fundraising, video production on the Millersville University’s television program, MUTV 99, “Improv Molotov;” her work on the award-winning NBS homecoming float and her work on MUTV news.

Millersville’s NBS students competed against nine other schools. Along with entering 20 productions, the students attended a variety of educational sessions during the conference. Dr. Bill Dorman, the chapter advisor, accompanied the group, and produced the awards program video.

Thanks for the article. It was distributed to the members today. We really appreciate the support. We are currently making our arrangements to go to the national convention in Hollywood in March. We will do our best to keep you updated on that.
