Faculty and Staff Activities

Dr. Sandra Deemer, educational foundations, recently served as an invited president at the international Learning and the Brain conference. This conference focused on how those in teacher education can utilize findings from neuroscience to create engaging learning environments.

Drs. Michael Dillon, Patrick McCaskey and Eric Blazer, business administration, had their referred article titled “MBA Internships: More Important than Ever” accepted for publication in The Journal of Education for Business.

Dr. Rich Mehrenberg, special education, had his article titled “The Evolution of a New College Course in Behavior Management: A Case Study in Collaboration and Compromise” published in the Spring/Summer 2010 edition of the refereed publication, The Online Journal for Inclusive Education.

Dr. Gregory J. Seigworth, communication and theatre, published a book, The Affect Theory Reader, in mid-November. The book is co-edited with Dr. Melissa Gregg, University of Sydney-Australia. Additionally, Seigworth gave an invited talk, “What is Affect Theory?” at the University of Pittsburgh October 7, as part of their Colloquium Series. In mid-September, Seigworth was the external examiner for a doctoral dissertation at the University of Alberta, Canada, and served also as a faculty mentor at a U of Alberta graduate student weekend-retreat on theory building.

Dr. M.P.A. Sheaffer, English, sang as an alto ringer in the winter concert of the “Sacred Music Chorale of Richmond Hill” in New York City, December 5. Under the direction of the Rev. Robert Sonnenberg, the program included C.P.E.Bach’s “Magnificat,” “Noel,” a medley of settings of Christmas carols originally for a Walt Disney production and Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.”

To Jennifer L. Jeffrey-Pearsall, psychology, and her husband, Bryon Pearsall, on the birth of Liam G. Pearsall, born October 19, 2010.

Obituary

Margaret G. (Peg) Shopf, 90, of Miami, Fla., formerly of Millersville, died December 1. She worked from 1968 to 1980 at the Millersville University Bookstore.
