Last week Morgann Elyce Davis and her colleague Matthew Angelo learned that their performance of Kaoru by Christopher Theofanidis earned First Prize in the Advanced Division of the 2025 American Protégé Woodwinds & Brass Competition. They also received the Judge’s Distinction Award, an additional recognition reserved for performances that show exceptional artistry and interpretation. This double honor brings them to the stage of Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in March 2026.

Morgann Davis is well known across the region for her mix of artistry, teaching, and wellness work. Her musical life spans several worlds, and each one supports the others. She teaches at Millersville University of Pennsylvania, guiding young musicians through the technical and expressive skills of flute performance. Alongside her teaching, she performs with ensembles including the Lancaster Symphony, Reading Symphony, Harrisburg Symphony, and the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra. She also serves as principal flute of the Endless Mountain Music Festival.

Because of their First Prize and Judge’s Distinction Award, Morgann has been invited to perform at the Winner’s Recital on March 22, 2026, in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Her Carnegie Hall performance is more than a celebration of an award. It reflects the layered artistic lives she leads, from university studios to symphony halls to community-centered teaching and wellness work. It marks a milestone built from years of steady, focused, and imaginative musicianship.
