On Wednesday, November 13, the NakedEye Ensemble delivered a remarkable concert at West Art, featuring compositions that showcased the depth and range of contemporary music. Among the highlights was Dum Spectas Fugio, a piece by Millersville University’s Professor Rusty Banks from the Tell School of Music. Crafted with samples from the International Clock and Watch Museum in Columbia, PA, this composition captivated listeners with its rhythmic clock sounds interwoven with electric bass grooves. The New York Times described the piece as evoking “turntablism, the Minimalism of Marc Mellits, and some gentler moods,” bringing a powerful presence to the ensemble’s performance.

The program also included works by Frank Zappa, Richard Belcastro, Whitney George, Aaron Jay Myers, and Karen Tanaka, offering the audience an expansive musical experience. Millersville professors Dr. Christy Banks and Ryan Kaufmann, fellow members of the NakedEye Ensemble, brought their expertise and artistry to the event, highlighting the exceptional talent within Millersville’s Tell School of Music.

This concert was a stunning showcase of the innovative work produced and performed by our faculty, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended
