Two music faculty Dr. Barry Atticks and Dr. Jennifer Jester were each recipients of a $500 EPPIIC Micro-Grant to fund their proposed projects. Grants were awarded based on direct connection to the Millersville University EPPIIC values, enhancement of the MU experience, and creating a positive impact on the MU community.

Dr. Jester’s proposal was titled “Millersville University Modern Band High School Program” which was to create a project that served high school students wishing to play in Modern Band ensembles year round in the Central Pennsylvania area in an incubator program that could be used to enhance MU student experience through classroom teaching by future music educators in the Modern Band classes, create a student learning environment with student work stipends, and leadership roles. The time frame of the project would begin in September 2023.

Dr. Atticks proposal was titled “International Music Technology Experiences in Iceland”.  Dr. Atticks will be working with organizers of a large international music festival in Reykjavik. The goal is to create a pathway for music production and live audio students to get international experience on their resumes by being involved in the production each fall. Dr. Atticks will also be meeting with faculty from the Iceland University of the Arts to build short term experiences working with technology in live performance.
