The Glorious Sounds of the Season will return in-person for its 16th year after going virtual least year. The scholarship fundraising concert will be held in the Clair Performance Hall in the Winter Visual & Performing Arts Center. There are three shows scheduled, December 4 at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and December 5 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are usually sold out before the first concert takes place, so if you want to experience the glorious sounds this season, be sure to get your tickets early.
“While last year’s virtual concert was a great success, we’re thrilled to offer the in-person event again this year. Nothing beats the excitement of live performance, especially this massive event that involves so many people and an incredible variety of holiday-themed music from many different traditions and geographical locations,” says Dr. Jeffrey Gemmell, associate professor and
coordinator of choral studies for the Tell School of Music.
As in the past, this year’s Glorious Sounds of the Season scholarship fundraising concert is an exciting event that includes over 30 individual musical acts representing every facet of the Tell School of music. Over 300 faculty and students perform (vocalists and instrumentalists) in large ensembles, small ensembles, commercial groups, solo acts and everything in between. The presentation is in a “surround sound” format with performers stationed throughout the hall. The music is continuous, with rapid-fire transitions between numbers controlled with lighting cues and continuous movement. Without intermission or applause between selections, the total length of the show is less than 90 minutes.
“A Millersville tradition celebrating its 16th year, this concert always sells out as people return year after year to recharge their holiday spirit. The energy and delightful pacing are guaranteed to get you ready for the holiday season,” says Gemmell.
All profits from this production are deposited directly into an account that benefits student scholarships for returning students and new recruits, as well as Tell School of Music program development.
