Dr. Stacey Irwin, a professor at Millersville, got her chance to present her film Raising Faith: Stories About Dyslexia at the Family and Faith International Film Festival in 2023. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Irwin’s presentation was put on hold. But in early February, she showcased the piece she produced, directed, and edited in a live panel.
Raising Faith: Stories About Dyslexia is a thirty-minute film featuring nine families with dyslexic children. The film also stars Dr. Irwin’s daughter, Faith, and discusses her journey with dyslexia. When searching for resources, Dr. Irwin and her husband could only find clinical sources instead of comfort. Raising Faith is her way to change that.
