So, now our timer is working and while we replanted on Tuesday, there is still only one visibly live plant in our system. Hopefully by Monday we have obvious progress back to where we were after our first germination. Our pH is still between 6 and 6.5 and our living plant has remained at about 1 to 1.5 inches since about a week ago.

I see you said that the remaining plant has stayed consistantly at the same height and has not grown in at least the last week. Have you noticed anything diffrent about it? Like has the color changed? Or does it really look like a perfectly healthy plant that has hit a pause in it’s growiny cycle?
So it seems like the consensus is that your watering to much. Or in my opinion its that the actual drops of water could be damaging any possible plant growth. Drops of water don’t seem like much but they could hurt seedlings. Plants in the wild don’t generally get watered with big drops multiple times a day. You may also try flushing all your water out and run it with just clean water for two days or so. The nutrients have an ability to build up.
I would keep an eye on your ph levels and water temp. Your system looks like its working well. Also check you solution mixture.
Hopefully fixing the timer will fix your problems because you dont want to over water, which has been a problem with some groups. I also noticed just looking at your system, that there is just rockwool in your system, which leaves little room for growth. Just something to think about. Good luck!
We had the same issues as you did with the water getting murky and cloudy, we as well are looking into covering the tank. As well our plants only grew and inch and then stopped as well and then slowely started to die. However ya’ll seem to be having a little more success that we have been, do you have any tips for keeping the plants growing tall?
I think that it has nothing to do with the drip emitters or the balance of the nutrients. I think it might be the fact that the timer is still on for too long. It seems like the roots are possibly drowning. If possible you may want to either have the timer off longer or make the duration of the water shorter. It may be a solution to your problem.
From what I have seen in class ans from what you have posted on your blog, it seems like you are getting varied results between your plants. Some are growing and some are not. I think this is because of the drip system. It may be that it is not distributing the nutrient solution evenly to all the plants. You could reconfigure this for better results. Also, I have been having some trouble regulating pH. Every time I check the level its up around 8 and i bring it down to around 6.5. Any idea why this might be happening?
The timer was a good idea to regulate the water to the plants. I know that some people are having issues with over-watering. Your system seems to be running nicely from what I have seen in class. I am sure the plants will flourish. Good job.
