3D Printing & Modeling

In the fist part of the 3D printing & modeling assignment, we were tasked with creating a LEGO Duplo block by stacking layers of cardstock by hand, similar to how a 3D printer works. We were given a full 1hr 15min class period to complete this, and seeing as most groups (including ours) did not finish, we learning that this was a terribly inefficient and ineffective way of going about things.

Next, we set off to actually 3D print normal LEGO bricks. Before we could print them, however, we had to design them on Fusion. I had a lot of previous experience on SolidWorks, so this part was pretty fun and easy for me as I could just hop in and figure the new interface out pretty quickly.

Finally, we got to actually 3D printing the blocks. While I had a lot of experience with CAD, I had never actually used a 3D printer before, so it was cool to learn how to actually set up a print. This will definitely be a useful thing to know in the future!
