Electric Bus

Earlier this year, a group of students, faculty, and staff embarked on an innovative project that is truly Made in Millersville: the transformation of a classic, 1970s Volkswagen bus into a completely electric-powered vehicle!

Al Unrath, Instructional Technologist and Made in Millersville committee member, is overseeing the project. With his help, students from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers club (largely comprised of Applied Engineering majors) have successfully stripped the bus of its original gasoline engine, wood paneling, and dated decor.

Once the bus has been refinished and converted to a fully-electric vehicle, it will hopefully begin a new life as a transportation option for prospective students and families who are unable to complete campus tours on foot.

Al and his team are planning to have the bus on display at this year’s Made in Millersville conference as one of our featured projects.
