Group Title: The doctor can’t see you now: Can your health afford to wait?

Group Abstract: With the current changes in healthcare, advanced practice nurses are becoming increasingly vital. Advanced practice nurses can not only compliment existing treatment in traditional medical practices but can also replace the current medical model at a fraction of the cost. In this session we will discuss the differences between advanced practice nurses, especially family nurse practitioners, physicians, and physician assistants. We will explore the differences in nurse practitioner’s patient health outcomes, satisfaction, and cost compared to physicians. We will examine the different healthcare systems throughout the world and how the U.S. ranks. We will review the unique roles nurse practitioners have in serving at risk populations. Finally, we will consider the future of the U.S. healthcare system and policies.
