Today we put together an electronic circuit using limited materials! We did this as small groups and had to work together. Most all of us in the class had briefly learned this in grade school science. This time around though, we had to create a “switch”. We had breaker boards to do this on in grade school, so this was a little different, more challenging but fun! We made three different kinds of examples to light a lightbulb. Some examples incorporate putting both the wires inside tin foil and using a binder clip as a switch. Another successful attempt was using a thumb tack as a conductor and connecting the black and white wires. Another way we used was we put a metal paper clip in the middle and connected the black and white wires basically wrapping them around the paper clip, and the electricity flowed through that conductor as well!!! We also were given a YouTube video to watch to spark an idea. I learned that the conductor and insulator are crucial in getting the lightbulb to power, and if one or both are not working, you will not flow power. I also learned that power can easily go through things, like for example the binder clip, the paper clip, tinfoil, a plastic straw, a thumbtack, etc.
