Lego Brick
Before this class, I had a little bit of prior knowledge of 3D modeling and printing. In 7th grade I had to take a tech class where we got to make our own phone holders on a CAD program and then 3D prints them. However, this class got cut short for me as a little thing called Covid 19 hit. We had just started our unit on 3D modeling and then we were sent home, so I was never able to fully complete the unit.
I feel like I have an overall good understanding of how 3D printing works now. As well as the different types of materials that go into making all the 3D models. Whenever we were learning how to use the new program to make objects, the video was an effective way for me to understand how to do everything. I liked the fact that we worked on our own to design our Lego blocks rather than in groups. I wish we were able to have a little more creative freedom to design other things rather than all doing the same Lego brick. Almost like what we did with the name tags.
After completing this assignment, I learned that everything has to be perfect in order for the brick to be successfully printed. Even if one small thing is out of place, it will affect the outcome greatly. I also learned how to use a new program in order to make the 3D object itself.
