Materials Processing

This activity focused on materials like wood and different methods of processing said materials. We did not really process the actual wood because we did not have to cut it or sand it, but we did laser engrave it. In the AENG 130 class I take, we already learned a lot of the basics around wood processing, so this was not foreign to me. I also have lots of experience from high school using laser engravers/cutters. The process was not new to me, but we did cover some topics I was unfamiliar with. The assignment was designed to get us thinking about ideas surrounding processing materials like wood, but other materials as well, as well as creating media or art using these techniques. I enjoyed learning how to use the laser engraver, as well as other processing tools in the innovation lab. Using the software on the computer linked to the engraver was also a new learning experience for me.
