S.M.A.R.T College/Career Statement
I plan to graduate in 4 years with, in the spring of 2029. I would like to maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Once I graduate I would like to be able to land a job with a ballpark starting salary of $60,000-70,000, within two years of graduating.
Specific: In the next 4 years I will continue to stay on top of my academics, turning in assignments on time and studying for tests. I would like to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.3, which I feel is attainable and respectable. If schoolwork and assignments require more effort to achieve similar grades compared to my current assignments, then I will work harder and study more.
Measurable: I will know I reached this goal when I get my grades back and I get the job I am looking for. Then my work is complete.
Action-Oriented: I am going to study for any test that I feel may require even minimal studying. I will take full advantage of the resources provided by the university to make sure I am as effective academically as I am striving to be. I want to pursue an education that empowers me to become a leader, a thinker, and an innovator.
Realistic: Potential obstacles I may face are hard assignments or increased workload, as well as possible student teaching, and even standardized tests. I must be ready to handle the obstacles, and I will prepare by pursuing opportunities to gain experience with these concepts. The university provides resources like counseling and tutoring that will make the overcoming of these obstacles easier and hopefully lead me to a successful career here at Millersville and beyond.
Timely: With the nature of my goal requiring me to get a job in under 6 years, I imagine the timeline for the completion of this goal is between roughly 4 and 6 years from now. That does not mean, however, that I can just slack off for four years and expect the results to come to me. I must work hard and continuously to attain my goal, but I believe in myself wholeheartedly, and I have faith in my abilities to overcome any obstacles that come my way.
