Quarantine Fun!

Parents- Let’s face it, we are going on a month now of quarantining and teaching from home. By this point, some of you are probably running out of engaging ideas for your children. It is important that we keep the children safe and healthy, and also motivated and interested in their academics during this time!

Schedule:

The first recommendation I have is setting a schedule with your child/children. Sit down with your child and create the schedule together. This will give your child a sense of independence and allow them to have a say in what they are doing every day. The schedule doesn’t have to be the same thing every day, but making it as simple as time allocated for lunch, play, an activity outside, classwork, etc. will help your child (and yourself) get into the groove of school at home!

Activity:

Does your child/children just want to be a couch potato all day? How do you get your child active and outside if it is raining all day? A great tool to use is GoNoodle videos! Children love GoNoodle, it gets them up and dancing and I am sure they would LOVE if you would get up and dance with them!

I included my favorite GoNoodle dance! https://youtu.be/KhfkYzUwYFk

Self-Care:

Giving yourself and your child a break from school work is so important. Everyone will need some brain breaks here and there throughout the day so I included some self-care tips for children (and yourself)

  • Go on a family walk, jog, or bike ride
  • Do a scavenger hunt
  • Family face masks
  • Bubble bath
  • Doing a family read aloud
  • Relaxing with your favorite book
  • Create a song
