I have been studying at Millersville University since 3 semesters. When I arrived Millersville at first. More different things between my Chinese university and Millersville, such as different teaching methods, different language. But I also liked here. There were clean air, friendly people and quiet environment.

After a half time of semester, I very missed my family after freshness. Millersville was beautiful at night. This day I thought I studied at library and came back my apartment. That was nice. But I always miss my family when I be alone at night.

My father have been encouraging me since I want to come back home. My father told me :” he know that studying in abroad is very hard. You can not avoid problem by yourself. Hold on, just this semester! ” Then my father talk to me about my living and studying everyday. Finally, I saw snow on winder. I am not choosing to come back home. And now, I just want to get graduation at Millersville University.

1. How I started

When I was five years old. The first time I play basketball with my uncle. So the basket is too tall for me, and basketball is too big for me. So, I just surround the ball. It’s too difficult for me that I hoop cast the ball in basket. Just started, I used the throw’s method. Next you know I can’t cast ball bump the basket even backboard. Because I didn’t have enough power. Then, my uncle touch me, I should hug the basketball and squat, like this way. So I know this way and repeat, repeat, repeat. Gradually I can cast the ball bump the backboard and basket. At last, I goal it.

2. Why I think its an exciting sport

I like playing basketball. It’ make me excited. So I always play basketball with my friends. I am keen on basketball games. I am fond of tournament’s feel. Everyone wants to score a goal. Everyone wants to win. But you know the winner only have one. So the loser will hug the winner and bless them. I call this behavior for “Competitive spirit”

In morning, I went to the Tian’anmen Square for the flag raising ceremony. That was very excited. Chinese flag will rise with sun. The scene is a solemn and ceremony. It was an exciting ceremony because the people stand and wait for the sunrise. Then the flag was raised as the sun comes up.

Then I went to the Forbidden City, which had a long history of nearly 600 years. It was located in the city center of Beijing, which consists of 800 buildings with over 8,000 rooms.

I went to the Great Wall. The Great Wall was more than 6,000 kilometers (3730 miles) long. It was one of the 8 wonders of the world and had a long history of over twenty centuries. The Great Wall was wide enough for ten men to walk side by side. In history, the Great Wall was used to defended foreign aggression. The Great Wall was built in the mountains, so The Great Wall Guards had topographical advantages. The advantage of seeing is their enemies coming long before they ever arrived to fight.

Long long ago, there is a monster called Nian living in a mountain. It plundered the food of people who lived at the bottom of the mountain every Chinese New Year. People struggled with this very hardly and felt afraid of the coming new year because of the monster. However, the monster has one weakness which people were not aware of, that is, it fears blares and other big sounds. By chance, one old man burned bamboo during the New Year, as the air inside the bamboo cavity by thermal expansion, bamboo burst, which issued a loud noise, and then the monster Nian heard the noise, it felt scared of this noise, so it ran away and then went back into the mountain. Because of this experience, people found the way to drive away the monster Nian, they just needed to burn the bamboo to make noise. After then, once Chinese new year comes, people burn bamboo to make noise to scare Nian away. As time went by, because of the emergence of gunpowder, people invented firecrackers to replace the bamboo. Year by year after that, it became a tradition in Chinese new year, and till now, you can see or hear the firecrackers or fireworks during Chinese Spring Festival.

Firecrackers are made of gunpowder and paperboard. There are three steps to make the firecrackers. The first step is to put the gunpowder into an oval hard paperboard, and then connect the gunpowder inside with a blasting fuse, and next, cover the paperboard with a red wrapping paper, and the final step is to connect every single small firecrackers together to a larger one.

However, every coin has two sides, setting off firecrackers can also bring a lot of harm to our life. For example, it causes serious air pollution and noise pollution. It also poses a great risk to firecrackers, especially for children who have poor safety awareness. Firecrackers can cause injuries, and even life-threatening. So in order to reduce the firing of firecrackers, children should be accompanied by adults when setting off firecrackers. The government now also set regulations to restrict the use of firecrackers because of the harm of them.

Before 3 week, we began our free trip at rest home. We were already excited this trip. On the road, the landscape was very beautiful and comfortable.

About 30 minutes trip, we arrived our destination. The building looked very nice, that like a villa with beautiful landscape. The people was benignant and passionate.

There were my partner. The old woman name was Baolin. It was Chinese name. The old man called Ron. They had 3 daughter, the old one worked in Philadelphia, the second one was in trip with her husband in American, the small was in studying in California. They were interesting  in Chinese education. They were nice people.

Last Friday we went to a Mannheim museum in Pennsylvania. I met some interesting things. The first is some pocket watch. Pocket watch is a strapless to carry the clock. , like the picture. I just saw it in the movie before. It is very beautiful, I really like the old things.

The second thing is cow. Kristin told us that this is a cow, and small one is bull.  The cows’ tail lashed back and forth. I have never seen it before. I just saw water buffalo in China. The water buffalo is black all of the body, but the cow is black and white. Cow horns is smaller than water buffalos.

The last thing is about handcraft art. An old man told us that he needed 20 minutes to make a small flower. It likes Chinese silk, which is thin and beautiful. Handicrafts need to string together from the delicate work of needles.

He declared for the NBA draft upon graduation, and was selected with the 13th overall pick in the 1996 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets, who traded him to the Lakers. As a rookie, Bryant earned himself a reputation as a high-flyer and a fan favorite by winning the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest, and he was named an All-Star by his second season. My family is traditional. And the mid-autumn festival is traditional festival in China. Mid-autumn festival started in the Tang Dynasty of China, popular in the Song Dynasty. To the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty, the mid-autumn festival has become one of the traditional Chinese festivals with the Chinese new year. In the mid-autumn festival my family will cook moon cake by themselves. Moon cake is like pumpkin pie.In the afternoon, some places have a dragon boat race. But we are not have it. Because we are living inland. The most important thing at night. In the mid-autumn festival’s moon is most round and bright day of the year.Full moon night hanging many lanterns in public places, people are gathered together, the lanterns riddles written on him, because most of the young men and women favorite activities, at the same time in these activities also reported a love story, it was also the Mid Autumn Lantern Riddles derived a form of men and women in love.My family will get together for eating moon cake and enjoy the special moon.

Halloween is coming. We was reading to the festival. Last Friday we went to a farm to get some props like pumpkin. The farm is near my university, but it is a big farm. The farmer was very enthusiastic too.

Then we went to a store for shopping. That so amazing I think. This name is squash. I never saw it in china. It’s look like a big mushroom or a morning glory.

Finally, I fond some apples. Eating apple is helpful for us. I will take some apple to go party. What a wonderful day !
