Day 12: 11.23.10

Plant still looks healthy but the container and water looked dirty.  We removed the cup holding the plant from the system as we cleaned out the container and the pump.  There was new water and nutrients added to the system and the plant was put back.  Will come in on Tuesday to harvest and see how it fares.

Day 9: 11.11.10

Today the plant looked much healthier and not as droopy as it looked on Tuesday.  It is about three inches tall now and has multiple leaves.  We added a bit more solution and checked the pH to make sure it was stable.  Plan to come back on Tuesday and monitor it as it regains health.

Day 8: 11.9.10

We came in today to find that all of the water in the system was gone as it had most likely evaporated.  The plant looked weak and we had to make new solution to add to the system.  We balanced out the pH to around 6.5 and left it planning to come back Thursday to see if it had regained its health.

Day 7: 11.4.10

After leaving the system for two days without making any significant changes, the plant still looked very healthy today.  There were some more nutrients added into the water and the pump was checked just to be sure that there was no clogs like we had encountered before.  Everything with that was fine though and we tested the pH.  It was around 6 which is stable, so we did not make an attempt to raise or lower it.  The plant is approximatley two and a half inches tall now and has steadily grown.  The system has pleased us so far as nothing has gone wrong and there has been significant growth/changes each class.  We will come in after the weekend with hopes of there being more growth and everything stillbeing up to par.

Day 6: 11.2.10

We came in today after the weekend not knowing what to expect as we made no changes before we left it for the weekend.  We were happy to come in and see that everything was up to par and the plant size had increased slightly since we had left it.  We added some more nutrients to the water and decided that we would leave the pH with intentions of checking it on Thursday.  The success of the system thus far has been very good, which has allowed us to not make many changes.

Day 4: 10.26.10

The plant looks very healthy and is continuing to grow at a very steady rate.  There are two plants and they are sprouting little leafs every time we check in on it.  Due to the success of the system we decided against making changes and are going to see what Thursday brings.

Day 3: 10.21.10

Plants increased in size and still appears to be growing healthy but was a bit droopy.  We then discovered that rock-wool had clogged the hose and was preventing water from reaching the plant.  We unclogged that and made sure there was a steady flow to be sure the plant would no longer be deprived if any water.
