Typography
Before learning by doing a typography assignment, I didn’t know much about typography. All my knowledge on this subject came from what I assumed was based on breaking down the word. Most typography I have ever dealt with has been online work on Google Docs or Google Slides. When I started learning by doing typography assignments, I had no clue about what I was about to do. When I heard typography, I assumed we would just be typing on our computers. I had no clue about the physical metal letters that were used. Using the physical letters was extremely beneficial to me as well because I had no idea how they were used. Watching the provided video was also useful, but the physical activities helped cement the concepts. Seeing my initials in the metal font was also very cool. Through this assignment, I learned a lot about typography, from the metal fonts that I had no clue about to the digital fonts and the different uses between them and how they can be used to express different meanings. Using this new knowledge will allow me to make different impressions with different fonts depending on the messages my writing is trying to convey.
