Day 6: 11/2/10

Today I came into the lab and discovered that our system had evaporated some of the nutrient solution. There was no sign of settling with the solution. I added two gallons of the nutrient solution to the system and then checked the pH which was around 7 and then lowered it to 6.0. Also our plants have some excellent growth.

  1. wow! You guys definitely have the best growth out of any of the plants in the class. How often have you guys been adding nutrients? I wonder if its time for me to add more to my sysetem.

  2. This is a design that looks good and is capable of producing a good amount of plants in a small area and your plants look very healthy. Good work!

  3. wow! Way to go guys, this looks great! I like your system a lot. I’m curious as to where the roots are going to go when they start to get long. I guess they will just float around on top, huh?

  4. Your system looks like it’s working just right. It seems everyone is having evaporation issues on that table and I’m wondering if it is because of the lights.

  5. Your plants look really good. However, I know both our groups had the problem with settling nutrients in the solution, but you said this time there was none. I mixed new solution 3 times now. You obviously have a much better progress than I am, but was using warmer water really what made a difference for you? You mentioned in your comment that it works and thanks for advice.

  6. Your plant’s look really good and healthy. You guys have an awesome well built design. I saw Mike check the ph today and it was 6 which is right on the money. Keep up the good work and you guys should have an early harvest.

  7. Your plant growth looks great! And, I like that you are posting photos. I suggest that you take and post some measurements to help track the growth rate of your plants. You don’t need to measure all of them. But, perhaps choose the tallest and shortest to measure and record at least once per week. Keep up the good work.
