Day 22: February 24, 2011

Some plants are dying and others are thriving.

It’s day #22 and we are seeing a lot of variation in our plants. The mesclun is thriving and reached 8″ tall. Some basil is looking good at 7″ tall, but it is somewhat “scraggly” looking. We need to research the best way to trim this plant to keep it bushy and full. We are not sure why some plants are dying. At this point, we think it’s best to remove the dead plants and start new seeds.

Our pH is steady at 6.5 and the temperature has been fairly consistent under the lamp at 75 degrees near the plants. Nutrient temperature measured 71 degrees today. We will completely replace the nutrient solution when we change out the dying plants, too.
