Fall 2021 Room Selection

It’s time for room selection! See below for important dates and information about the different types of room selection:

March 26th-April 11th: Roommate Selection

This is not an actual room selection. This is how you would request the people you would like to room with. After doing this, you will want to request a room during Open Room Selection.

April 6th-8th: Same Room Selection

Same Room Selection is for those students who currently live on campus and wish to live in the room they are currently in for next Fall. Remember, to participate in this room selection, you cannot request a roommate. A current suitemate group that wishes to again live together must each pick separately.

April 9th: Honors College Room Selection

This is room selection for Honors College students only.

April 12th: Shenks Room Selection

This is room selection for students who wish to live in Shenks Hall.

April 13th-30th: Open Room Selection

Open Room Selection is when you can select any room that is available. There are two types: Open Room Selection with Roommate Matching (for students who have already requested a roommate) and Open Room Selection without Roommate Matching (for students who did not request a roommate).

More information about room selection will be released in the coming days, so please continue to check your Millersville email and the Department blog (the site you’re on right now) for updates. Subscribe to our blog to receive email alerts when updates are shared so you’ll be the first to know about them!

UPS Delivery Changes

On Monday, March 1st 2021, UPS will be changing their delivery pattern to the University’s central mailroom. Previously, UPS would make their main delivery to the mailroom at 8:30 AM, and the mailroom staff could deliver it to the residence halls by noon. Beginning on Monday, the University will not receive UPS deliveries until 11:00 AM. All UPS deliveries to the residence halls will be delayed until the next delivery day. Please keep in mind that any package tracking notice that you receive from UPS (or any other delivery service, such as USPS or DHL via Amazon or another merchant) may indicate that your package arrived to campus, but that simply means it was received at the University mailroom and not in the residence hall in which you reside. You will receive a notice from our QTrak mail system if and when a package is ready for you to pick up at your building’s front desk.

COVID Testing Notice for Residence Hall Students

Photo from: https://blogs.millersville.edu/news/2021/02/03/one-students-experience-with-covid-19-testing-on-campus/

Notice for Residence Hall Students:

Recently Millersville University has seen a dramatic spike in positive COVID cases. Because of this and for our community’s health and safety, the University will be conducting mandatory COVID testing for all students residing in the residence halls. Students should anticipate being tested every two weeks until further notice. Millersville’s testing protocol is consistent with many other campuses across Pennsylvania and the nation.

Moving forward, you will receive an email giving you specific days/times when you can sign up for the testing. Please follow the instructions in the email.

If the days/times conflict with academic classes, an internship or work, please communicate that information to reportcovid@millersville.edu. If you were tested on campus in the past seven (7) days you are exempt until the following week. You are also exempt from testing if you tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 12 weeks.

This testing is NOT for students with symptoms or if you are in quarantine or are isolating. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or had significant contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days, please contact MU Health Services at (717) 871-5250.

Please continue to view the University’s Coronavirus page for updates and check your student email account.

We appreciate your help and compliance with this process as we work to keep everyone in the residence halls healthy and safe.

Residence Hall Snow Removal: Parking and More

All Campus Residence Hall Villages Students and Staff with Vehicles Parked On Campus:

Millersville University is in the impact zone for the predicted snow storm from late tonight through Friday morning.

Plans have been made for the orderly clearing/treating of parking lots and sidewalks/walkways on campus, including the residence hall lots. Please read the following and take advantage of the offer:

  1. Residence Hall Students with Residential parking permits (blue lined spaces) are invited to move vehicles from the residence hall parking lots to the parking garage at Cottage Avenue and Prince Street here on campus. This is up the Cottage Avenue hill from the Winter Center and next to the baseball field and Jefferson Building. Please do not confuse this with any parking structure in the city of Lancaster. This is right here on campus. Moving to this location provides a convenient covered space for your vehicle that will keep it free of snow and ice while the grounds crew works on clearing the residence hall lots and walkways.
  2. There is limited space in this garage structure so availability will be on a first-come-first-served basis. You must have a residential parking permit for campus. Please note that the bottom floor of the parking garage is reserved for MU vehicles. Additionally, there is no parking on the upper deck of the parking garage given there will be no snow removal from the top floor. Restrictions for the MU Prince Street parking garage will be lifted until 8:00 AM on Monday, February 22, 2021. You must move your car back to the residence hall parking lot by that day and time.
  3. This offer does not include the parking garage near the football stadium. That parking garage is not open for residence hall vehicle relocation at this time so please do not park there.
  4. Vehicles parked parallel to sidewalks/walkways or with front or back end of vehicle over the line of a sidewalk/walkway must move so that the vehicle does not protrude over or rest directly on or too close to the sidewalk/walkway. Vehicles parked in a manner that impinges the sidewalk/walkway obstruct snow removal equipment operation and the ability to adequately clear the sidewalks.  To avoid possible vehicle damage and assure your vehicle does not impede snow removal please be certain it is not parked in a manner that impinges the sidewalks/walkways.

This will assist the Facilities and Grounds crews to clear the lots and you won’t need to shovel your vehicle out since the Prince Street parking deck is covered.

COVID Testing and Housing Move-In Directions & Parking

Scheduled COVID testing and corresponding residence hall check-in will occur on Monday, January 18th and Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 7:30 – 11a.m. and 1 – 5 p.m. There will be a strict adherence to this schedule in order to manage the flow of students arriving on campus, so late arrivals cannot be accommodated. If you have not already, please review the procedures for the Spring 2021 Move-In: Testing & Process. You must schedule a time for Monday or Tuesday.

Health Services Testing Location & Parking

  • Make your way to Millersville University coming on North George Street and turn left onto East Frederick street at the stop light.
  • Travel 260 feet, and then turn left onto Highschool Avenue.
  • Susan P. Luek Hall and its parking lot are located on the right.
  • Enter for testing from the rear entrance.
  • Handicapped accessible entrance is located on the opposite side of the building by the front parking lot.
  • Family should wait in the vehicle while the student enters for testing or to show verification of a previous result.

Result Wait Lot

  • After being tested, the student should return to the vehicle and travel to the Result Wait Lot, which is the Creek Drive parking lot.
  • From Luek Hall, take a right onto Pucillo Drive and continue through campus past the academic buildings and down a large hill to Creek Drive.
  • Turn right onto Creek Drive and another right at the next stop sign (Creek Drive).
  • The Creek Drive parking lot is on the right where you should park and wait until you receive your result on the NAVICA app.

Residence Hall Move-In

  • Those with a negative result can make their way to their prospective residence hall to check in. You will need to show your negative result in order to be able to receive your keys.
  • Family should remain with the vehicle until the student returns with their keys to move in.
  • Those who may have a positive result will be called by Health Services and be given further instructions at that time.

Late Arrivals

To reiterate, there will be a strict adherence to this schedule in order to manage the flow of students arriving on campus, so late arrivals cannot be accommodated.

Spring 2021 Move-In Information: Testing & Process

In an effort to provide you with information related to moving into your residence hall, we wanted to remind you of the new requirement. As announced to students via email on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 by Vice President Hazlett, students living in the residence halls will be required to be tested for COVID-19 as part of the Spring 2021 move-in process. Health Services will be on campus to administer the rapid COVID-19 test (free of charge) in Susan P. Luek Hall (24 Pucillo Dr., Millersville, PA 17551) before students receive their room keys. Students living in the residence halls will need to present to Housing staff proof that they have tested negative before they can receive their room key.

If a student has proof of receiving a negative test that was administered within 48-hours prior to arriving on campus, they may present this to Health Services in lieu of on-campus testing. We do understand this may cause various logistical hardships, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work through this process, which is designed to keep you and our campus community healthy and safe.

MOVE-IN / TESTING SCHEDULE – NOW OPEN

Students will schedule concurrently for a move-in / testing date and time through their University MAX account. Go to MAX-Student Services >> Housing & Dining >> MyHousing. The check in times available are below your assignment. These will be limited to available slots on Monday, January 18, 2021 and Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 7:30 – 11a.m. and 1 – 5 p.m. There will be a strict adherence to this schedule in order to manage the flow of students arriving on campus, so late arrivals cannot be accommodated.

When you schedule your appointment for testing, you are acknowledging that you understand your HIPPA privacy rights as outlined below and authorize the release of COVID-19 test results. Consent / Release form (CLICK to review) and a HIPAA notification (CLICK to review)

Any late arrivals will have to reschedule and will not be able to move into the residence halls. Additionally, any special accommodations for scheduling will need to be coordinated and approved through the Health Services.

COVID RESULTS APP

Before arriving for testing, please download the NAVICA App and create an account to receive your results.

Receiving your test results:

  • You MUST install the NAVICA App on your phone and create an account to receive your test results.

The NAVICA App is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.

TESTING & MOVE-IN PROCESS

  • Please report to Susan P. Luek Hall at 24 Pucillo Dr., Millersville, PA 17551 on your scheduled day and time where you will receive your COVID-19 rapid test. There are numerous legal parking spots located near the building which may be used. Students should remain in their vehicle until their scheduled appointment time to avoid crowding at the entrance of the building.  Only the student should enter the building to receive the test to eliminate crowding and to help with social distancing.
  • After receiving the test, the student should return to their vehicle and drive to the Creek Drive parking lot. Within approximately 15 minutes, you should see your test results on the NAVICA app.
  • Those with a negative result can park in their designated residence hall parking lot and proceed to their residence hall front desk to check-in. You MUST present the cell phone screen from the NAVICA app displaying the negative COVID result to the residence hall staff to be permitted to check-in.
  • Those with a positive result will receive a phone call from Health Services staff and will be given additional instructions. If able, a student may return home to isolate for the required 10 days before returning to campus. Students testing positive who are not able to return home, will be required to temporarily move into isolation housing in a Marauder Suite “pod” unit in East or West Village for 10 days. These are 10 single bed units in one suite with two common bathrooms and a living room/ kitchenette area. More complete instructions will be given at that time.

This testing is NOT for students with symptoms. If you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 or have had significant contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days, you should not report to campus. Please contact your primary care provider. Once you are asymptomatic, contact Health Services to be tested for admittance to the residence halls.

MOVE-IN LOGISTICS

  • Once you have parked and have received a negative result through the NAVICA App, the student should go directly to the front desk of their residence hall. Signage will be posted outside the residence halls directing you to the main entrance. All guests should remain outside and begin unloading items until the student returns.
  • No more than two (2) guests may accompany the student inside the residence hall during the move-in process.
  • Masks must be worn at all times while inside the residence halls.
  • We strongly encourage students to bring their own handcarts and / or carts as there will be none available to assist with moving-in. There will be no volunteers assisting with carrying student belongings to the rooms.
  • You are required to bring your own personal protection equipment, such as masks and gloves to use inside the residence hall along with any disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer. Please note, the use of facial masks are required while on the Millersville University campus.
  • Students should also bring with them a personal thermometer for daily self-screening.
  • Dumpsters will be located outside of the residence halls so that you are able to dispose of any trash. Please breakdown all boxes before disposing.

We are working under federal, state and PASSHE guidance. Please continue to view the University’s Coronavirus page for updates as well as checking your student email account for ongoing information.

We appreciate your help and compliance with this process as we want everyone in the residence halls to be healthy and safe. Students should check their email daily as well as follow our Twitter and Instagram account for important updates.

Sincerely,

Health Services
