Millersville University Fall 2022 Housing Move-In Information

The Fall 2022 semester is fast approaching so we want you to be prepared for moving into the residence halls on campus. Please read the following important information.

Residence hall building and room assignments will be available within your student account (i.e., MAX > MyHousing) on Friday, July 15, 2022 after 11:00 a.m.

Below are the dates and times you may move onto campus based upon your specific residence hall assignment and whether you are a new, returning, or transfer student.  This schedule is designed to mediate the flow of traffic and avoid congestion in and around the residence halls created by the large number of students and families. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this schedule. We look forward to having you here at the ‘Ville!

Move-In Day Expectations

Once you arrive to campus during your designated day and time, here is what you can expect:

  • Family and / or friends may accompany you for the move-in process for help, but we encourage you to limit the number of individuals needed for support due to traffic congestion and parking availability concerns.
  • We strongly encourage (but do not require) helpers to be fully vaccinated and / or wear a mask when arriving on campus given the number of individuals who will be on campus during the move-in process.
  • The entire move-in process can take between 1-2 hours long during peak periods.
  • Upon your arrival to campus, you will see signs pointing you where to go.
  • Please note that if you have more than one vehicle, only one at a time will be permitted to park next to the building for unloading.
  • When you arrive at your hall, you will be able to unload your belongings. The driver will immediately move the car to the designated parking area while you go to the check-in area to receive your keys.
  • We will have a limited number of faculty, staff, and student volunteers (“Movers & Shakers”) on hand to help. If you would like assistance, the Movers & Shakers will help you load your belongings into large carts for transport to your room as quickly as possible.
  • Due to the high number of new students moving in, at times you might find it easier to move yourself in without help from a volunteer Mover & Shaker.
  • After you unload the vehicle, you will need to move it to an open parking area, which may be on another part of campus. You will be directed to these areas.
  • We encourage you to pack lightly and bring any hard carts that you may have to expedite your move-in process.
  • Before you unpack everything, use a computer to check your e-mail and complete your room condition report. This is how you note any existing damage or worn items in your room so that you are not charged for them at the end of the year. Do not have a computer handy? Do not worry. We will have hard copies available for you to use. Just ask your RA.

Movers & Shakers Volunteering Opportunity

The Department of University Housing & Conference Services (UHCS) is looking for returning students, staff, faculty, and alumni to serve as volunteer  “Movers & Shakers” for move-in help on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Additionally, we are seeking volunteers to also help with our transfer student move-in on Saturday, August 20, 2021 from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Fall 2022 University Housing “Movers & Shakers” Volunteers Needed

The Department of University Housing & Conference Services (UHCS) is seeking returning students, staff, faculty, and alumni to serve as volunteer  “Movers & Shakers” for new student move-in help on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Additionally, we are seeking volunteers to also help with our transfer student move-in on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Movers & Shakers are responsible for meeting and greeting new students, their families, and helping to move students’ belongings into their rooms in the residence halls.

*Returning Honors College students may also sign up to help with LLC student move in on Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Student Movers & Shakers will be required to attend a short instructional meeting on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. in the Great Room of South Village.

Benefits of being a volunteer “Mover & Shaker” includes the following responsibilities and benefits:

1. Volunteers who live in the residence halls can move in early on Thursday, August 18, 2022 between 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
2. A free limited edition t-shirt to identify yourself as a “Mover & Shaker” (*the t-shirt logo is illustrated above)
3. Free continental breakfast served on Friday and Saturday
4. Free lunch served on Friday afternoon
5. Students who help on both Friday and Saturday will receive a special gift.

*** Students: Please note that if you sign up, move into the residence halls early as a Mover & Shaker, and do not participate as promised, you will be billed accordingly for the early move-in period as well as the cost of the shirt.

Millersville University Residence Hall Spring 2022 Closing 2022 Bulletin

The residence halls will close at 7 PM on Friday, May 06, 2022.  Residents are expected to move out of their residence halls and turn in their keys within 24 hours after their last exam.  Resident students who are graduating, are involved in graduation, have a Friday afternoon final, or has an extenuating circumstance must speak with their Residential Area Director by 5 PM on Wednesday, May 04, 2022, to obtain permission to remain in the halls until Saturday, May 7, 2022.  Everyone staying will need to be checked out by 6 PM on Saturday, May 07, 2022.

Students may move out prior to finals, just make sure to follow the procedures listed below

 Review the following information carefully to avoid violations of the Student Code of Conduct and additional charges for improperly checking out of your residence hall room.

 QUIET HOURS FOR FINAL EXAMS

Please keep your fellow students in mind as they prepare for exams.  Quiet hours will be maintained, 24 hours a day, beginning at 9PM Friday, April 29, 2022, and continuing through the end of the semester.

 CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES

Prior to leaving for the summer break, all resident students MUST properly check out of their room.  All residents must do the following prior to the actual check-out:

  • Remove all belongings from your area of the room (open desk/dresser drawers).  You may not keep items in your suite and there is no storage available.
  • Dispose of trash by removing it to the dumpster area outside of your residence hall.
  • Clean the room by sweeping the floor and wiping down furniture to remove dust and sticky residue.
  • Clean the bathroom(s). This would include cleaning the toilet, shower, sink, and floor area. This should not be left for the last resident to clean.
  • Return furniture to its original position. See the schematics posted on the bulletin board of your hallway.
  • Un-bunk beds and make sure that the bed frame is at the proper height.

The LAST resident to check-out of a room should also do the following:

  • Turn off the lights.
  • Set the thermostat to 70 degrees.
  • Close and lock the window.
  • Lower the blinds halfway but leave them open.
  • Lock your bedroom and suite door.

EXPRESS CHECK-OUT

 To use the Express Check-out Procedure:

  • When you are ready to check-out, proceed to the main desk of each residence hall and you will find express check-out envelopes next to a locked drop box.
  • Complete all the information required on the front of the envelope.
  • Sign your name as indicated.
  • Place your room key inside the envelope and seal it. Shenks/Reighard residents should include your parking pass.
  • If you have lost your key, complete the envelope, and write on the front: “No key enclosed, lost key.”
  • Drop the envelope into the lock box.

BICYCLES

Remember to take your bicycle with you before you leave campus.  As of Sunday, May 8, 2022, all bicycles left in the residential areas will be removed.

MAIL

The last day for mail delivery will be Friday, May 6, 2022.  All first-class mail will be sent to your home address over the summer except for packages, which must be returned to sender.  Newspapers and magazines cannot be forwarded.

SUMMER SCHOOL

Registered summer session residents will be assigned to live in South Village D wing.  You must move out of your spring room assignment by the deadliness published above even if residing in South Village D.  There is no storage available, and you will need to remove all your belongings at spring closing and checkout using the instructions above.

MOVE-IN FOR FALL 2022 REMINDER

Returning Students can check into the halls starting on Saturday, August 20, 2022. More information will be forthcoming for Fall 2022 opening calendar and instructions.

2022 Annual Skyfactor Benchworks Residential Student Survey

Starting on Monday April 4, 2022, the Department of University Housing & Conference Services will have the annual Skyfactor Benchworks survey administered. All non-staff residential students (i.e., Reighard Hall, Shenks Halls, Villages) will be invited to take the survey through Friday, April 22, 2022. Students will receive an email invitation with detailed information on how to take the survey. Two follow-up reminder emails will be sent to those who have not completed the survey. All residential students who complete the survey will be entered into a raffle to win $100.00 worth of gift cards for the university store.

This assessment is crucial for the Department of University Housing & Conference Services as it helps us to understand the successes and areas of improvement of our program, and the services of various campus partners in comparison to other colleges and universities across the country. Millersville University Residence Hall Spring Break 2022 Bulletin

The Spring Break will start after classes on Friday, March 4, 2022.  The residence halls will be available for occupancy during the spring break, but resident students must register intention to stay on campus no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022.  This registration is for spring break only. 

 To request Spring Break Housing please follow these instructions:

  1. Open MAX. For best results please use Goggle Chrome, or Firefox, and do not use Internet Explorer.
  2. Log into your My-Housing account.
  3. Select “Application” from the menu in black and then choose “Spring Break Housing 2022” on the drop down menu.
  4. Complete the required information.
  5. You must select a reason for requesting break housing from the drop-down menu.  If you select other, you must explain in the next box. Please be brief.
  6. Select “Continue” to submit your application.
  7. You only need to request Spring Break Housing if you need to continue your housing during any portion of the break period – 7:00 p.m. Friday March 4, 2022 through Sunday March 13, 2022, Noon.

EAST VILLAGE WATER HEATER MAINTENANCE NOTICE:

The Facilities team and contractors will be performing maintenance on one of the three hot water heaters on Monday, March 7, 2022 during the morning. This means that cooler than normal water will be available during the few hours this maintenance is being performed. Please plan accordingly. Updates will be provided to those East Village students who register to remain.

The Residence Hall Staff will conduct Health and Safety Inspections in each residence hall suite at the start of the spring break. Please carefully review the following instructions and information to avoid violations of the Student Code of Conduct for improper maintenance of your residence hall suite/room.

SPRING BREAK HOUSING INFORMATION:

  • Guests and visitation is not permitted during the break.
  • The residence halls will be operational during the break.
  • All University administrative offices will be open during the break.
  • Residence hall offices will have limited hours of operation during the break – see front desk for contact information.
  • See Dining Services and Health Services web sites for hours of operation.
  • Students are not required to surrender residence hall keys to the staff prior to leaving for the break.
  • The Housekeeping and Facilities Management staff may be working in the campus residence halls to perform maintenance tasks during the break that require entrance to resident rooms.  The Housing staff may post a courtesy sign on your door indicating that the room is occupied.  This sign will ensure that workers will not enter your room without knocking.  Please leave it in place for the duration of the break.

SPRING BREAK PREPARATION PROCEDURES:

Prior to the start of the break, all resident students MUST:

  • Dispose of all trash by removing it to the dumpster in the parking lots outside your residence hall.
  • Clean the room/suite including sweeping the floor and wiping down furniture.
  • Clean your bathroom and report any issues with constant run toilets, sinks, showers to the residence hall staff.
  • Remove stale food from your refrigerator and properly dispose of it through proper trash removal.
  • If you are leaving for the break, turn off the lights.
  • If you are leaving for the break, set the thermostat to 70 degrees.
  • If you are leaving for the break, close and lock your room window (Villages only).
  • If you are leaving for the break, lower the blinds halfway but leave them open.
  • If you are leaving for the break, lock your bedroom door and your suite door.
  • If you are leaving for the break please move all items from your residence hall floor, especially computer equipment and any items that can be damaged by flooding.
  • If you are leaving for the break and you have a Learning Services approved animal in your room, you must take the animal with you.  You may not leave animals in the residence hall in the care of another student or staff member.

COVID-19 PREPARATIONS

  • Those students who may become COVID positive will be required to isolate for 10-days in campus housing designated for isolation or return home.
  • Please be aware that those students approved to remain for spring break housing will have to make their own food purchase and delivery arrangements for breakfast in the case they need to isolate or quarantine due to COVID-19. Meal delivery will only be available for lunch and dinner only.

ON-CAMPUS ROOM SELECTION DATES FOR FALL 2022

It’s time for room selection for those current students who plan to live on campus next year. See below for important dates and information about the different types of room selection. Room selection is in MyHousing (self-service): MAX >> Student Services-Housing & Dining >> MyHousing.

February 1, 2022: Housing Application and Roommate Selection Opens

Complete and sign the housing agreement and select specific roommates during this process.

March 15 – 16, 2022: Same Room Selection

“Same Room Selection” is for those students who currently live on campus and wish to live in the room they are currently in for next Fall. Remember, to participate in this room selection, you cannot request a roommate. A current suitemate group that wishes to live together again must each pick separately.

March 17 – 18, 2022: Shenks Room Selection and Honors College Room Selection

This is room selection for students who wish to live in Shenks Hall or wish to live in Honor’s College Living Learning Community (LLC).

March 22 – 23, 2022: Single Suite Room Selection

This is room selection for students who wish to live in single suites (i.e., two private bedrooms and one shared bathroom in the Villages). Limited number of single suites will be available for selection.

March 24 – April 15, 2022: Open Room Selection

“Open Room Selection” is when you can select any room that is available. There are two types: “Open Room Selection with Roommate Matching” (i.e., for students who have already requested a roommate) and “Open Room Selection without Roommate Matching” (i.e., for students who did not request a roommate).


OFF-CAMPUS ROOM SELECTION DATES FOR FALL 2022

It’s time for requesting to live off campus for current students who would like to live off-campus. See below for important dates and information about the different types of off-campus requests:  All requests are Applications in MyHousing (self-service):  MAX >> Student Services >> Housing & Dining >> MyHousing.

February 1, 2022 – Student Lodging Inc. (SLI) Waivers for students with 60+ completed credit hours opens:

Complete application in MyHousing. Completed credits the by end of Spring 2022 are used for validation. This process is for students planning on living at properties owned by the Student Lodging, Inc. (SLI) affiliate student housing, which includes Brookwood, Wellness, and College View apartment options.

February 15, 2022 – Off-Campus (60+) and Commuter Requests application opens:

Complete application in MyHousing. Completed credits by end of Spring 2022 are used for validation. This process is for students planning on living in the community and have completed 60 credits.  This is also open for current students who plan to commute from legal residence within 40 miles one way of campus. Students under 60 completed credits need to have an additional notarized form signed for approval.

March 18, 2022 – Student Lodging, Inc. (SLI) Waivers for 30-59 Completed credit hours opens:

Complete application in MyHousing. Completed credits by end of Spring 2022 are used for validation.  This process is for students requesting to live at properties owned by SLI, including Brookwood and Wellness, and have not completed 60 credits. LIMITED QUANTITY of these waivers are available each year.

Steps:

  1. Submit: Students submit an application in MyHousing using the dates above for the particular request. Please allow five (5) business days for processing.
  2. Review: The Coordinator of Occupancy Management will review all requests in consultation with the Director of University Housing & Conference Services and / or their designee(s) with the intent of the Millersville University residency requirement and will render a decision. This decision will be given within five (5) business days when possible. Missing documentation will delay processing.
  3. Documentation: Students will receive and email of approval or denial.  At the time a housing waiver application is approved, any pre-existing, on-campus housing assignment is released. SLI waiver applicants will also be notified of the decision and waiver number if approved.

Definitions:

On-Campus: On-campus housing is defined as residing in one of the following residence halls: East Village, Reighard Hall, Shenks Hall, South Village, and West Village.

Off-Campus: Properties owned by Student Lodging, Inc. (SLI) and other student housing options within the community.

Commuter: Students residing with a parent or court-appointed legal guardian at that person’s permanent home address who is commuting fewer than 40 miles one way. A notarized statement and supplemental statement are required.

Spring 2022 Move-In Testing FAQs

If I tested positive with COVID-19 recently, will I still need to be tested at move-in?

If you tested positive for COVID in the past 90 days you are exempt from Spring 2022 move-in testing; however, you will still need to sign-up for a “test” slot for check-in.  In lieu of being tested, please show a copy of your provider’s letter and/or a copy of your COVID-19 test results.  (Your documentation will need to have a test date to ensure it meets the 90-day window requirement)

Can I return to campus on Day 5 of isolation or quarantine, per the new CDC guidelines?

Millersville University is using the guidance from CDC for congregate settings. The University requires a 10-isolation period for students who test positive with COVID-19 and a 10-day quarantine period for students who are unvaccinated and had a significant exposure to a COVID positive individual.

Are you accepting home test kits?

The University is providing FREE antigen testing at move-in.  We will NOT be accepting negative results from a home test kit.

Are your accepting negative test results from an outside facility?

A rapid Antigen or PCR test is acceptable if performed at a medical facility/pharmacy/doctor’s office, etc. Remember, tests need to be performed within 72 hours prior to arriving on campus. At-home tests are NOT accepted.

You still need to schedule an appointment for testing and show your results to the testing staff to be exempt from testing. They will then provide you with a clearance certificate to move-in to the residence halls.

What happens if I test positive?

Those with a positive result will be contacted and provided additional instructions. A student must return home to isolate for the required 10 days before returning to campus. More complete instructions will be given at that time. 

What about weather concerns for Sunday and Monday?

Additional testing has been scheduled for Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the South Village Great Room for those who may be need that option. You may change your appointment through your MAX account as long as enough testing slots are available.

Spring 2022 Move-In Information: Testing & Process

We appreciate your help and compliance with this process as we want everyone in the residence halls to be healthy and safe.  

Spring 2022 Move-In Information: Testing & Process

Following recent guidelines and best practices, Millersville University made the decision to test all students living in the residence halls for COVID-19 as part of the Spring 2022 move-in process. Health care professionals will be on campus to administer the rapid COVID-19 test (free of charge) in Susan P. Luek Hall (24 Pucillo Dr., Millersville, PA 17551) on Sunday, January 16, 2022 and Monday, January 17, 2022 before all students will be permitted to enter their residence hall. Testing on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 will occur in the South Village Great Room. This includes new and returning students, vaccinated and non-vaccinated students. Student-athletes are exempt from this process as they have already undergone testing in accordance with NCAA guidelines.

Students living in the residence halls will need to present to Housing staff proof that they have tested negative before they can receive their room key or move back into the halls. 

If a student has proof of receiving a negative test that was administered within 72-hours prior to arriving on campus, they may present this to the health care professionals during your scheduled time in lieu of on-campus testing. We do understand this may cause various logistical hardships, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work through this process, which is designed to keep you and our campus community healthy and safe. 

MOVE-IN / TESTING SCHEDULE – NOW OPEN 

Students will schedule concurrently for a move-in / testing date and time through their University MAX account. Go to MAX-Student Services >> Housing & Dining >> MyHousing. The check in times available are below your assignment. These will be limited to available slots on Sunday, January 16, 2022, and Monday, January 17, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. – 4:45 p.m in Luek Hall and on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 – 3:00 p.m. in the South Village Great Room. There will be a strict adherence to this schedule in order to manage the flow of students arriving on campus, so late arrivals cannot be accommodated. 

When you schedule your appointment for testing, you are acknowledging that you understand your HIPAA privacy rights as outlined below and authorize the release of COVID-19 test results.Consent / Release form (CLICK to review) and a HIPAA notification (CLICK to review).  

Any late arrivals will have to reschedule and will not be able to move into the residence halls. Additionally, any special accommodations for scheduling will need to be coordinated and approved through the Health Services. 

COVID RESULTS APP 

Before arriving for testing, please download the NAVICA App and create an account to receive your results. 

Receiving your test results: 

  • You MUST install the NAVICA App on your phone and create an account to receive your test results. 

The NAVICA App is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store. 

TESTING & MOVE-IN PROCESS 

SUNDAY, JANUARY 16, 2022 & MONDAY, JANUARY 17, 2022 (LUEK HALL)

  • Please report to Susan P. Luek Hall at 24 Pucillo Dr., Millersville, PA 17551 on your scheduled day and time where you will receive your COVID-19 rapid test. There are numerous legal parking spots located near the building which may be used. Students should remain in their vehicle until their scheduled appointment time to avoid crowding at the entrance of the building.  Only the student should enter the building, wearing a mask, to receive the test to eliminate crowding and to help with social distancing.  
  • After receiving the test, the student should return to their vehicle and drive to the Creek Drive parking lot. Within approximately 15 minutes, you should see your test results on the NAVICA app. 
  • Those with a negative result can park in their designated residence hall parking lot and proceed to their residence hall front desk to check-in. You MUST present the cell phone screen from the NAVICA app displaying the negative COVID result to the residence hall staff to be permitted to check-in or move back into your suite. 
  • Those with a positive result will be contacted and provided additional instructions. A student must return home to isolate for the required 10 days before returning to campus. More complete instructions will be given at that time. 

TESTING ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 18, 2022 (SOUTH VILLAGE)

  • Please report to the South Village Great Village, 120 Centennial Drive, Millersville, PA 17551 on your scheduled day and time where you will receive your COVID-19 rapid test. There are numerous legal parking spots located near the building which may be used. Students should remain in their vehicle until their scheduled appointment time to avoid crowding at the entrance of the building.  Only the student should enter the building, wearing a mask, to receive the test to eliminate crowding and to help with social distancing.

Residence Hall Winter Break 2021 Bulletin

Winter break housing will start at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021. The residence halls will be closed during the winter break. The residence halls will reopen on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at 12:00 PM. Resident students who are continuing in the residence halls to spring 2022 may request break housing for all or portions of the winter break by completing the MyHousing registration for Winter Break Housing through your MAX account no later than Noon on Friday, December 3, 2021This includes requests for both the December and January portions of the winter break.

While we do offer winter break housing for residential students continuing into the spring 2022 semester, we encourage you to take full advantage of the break. You must be formally approved through the application process to remain over the winter break. Various approved reasons, include the following:

  • International student status
  • Formal independent status
  • Credit-bearing academic placements
  • Student athletes scheduled for collegiate athletic competition
  • Other reasons will be considered dependent upon legitimate need

If you are requesting winter break housing and you have scheduled a room change for the spring semester, you must complete the room change before the start of the break. Please see your Residence Area Director (RAD) to make that arrangement. If you are not scheduled to live in the residence halls for the spring 2022 semester you are not eligible to request housing during the winter break. Students assigned to continue housing in the residence halls for spring 2022 are not required to surrender residence hall keys to the staff prior to leaving for the break nor need to move out all your belongings.

COVID-19 PREPARATIONS

Those students who may become COVID positive will be required to isolate for 10-days in campus housing designated for isolation. Please be aware that those students approved to remain for winter break housing will have to make their own food purchase and delivery arrangements in the case they need to isolate or quarantine due to COVID-19.

SOUTH VILLAGE WATER LINE REPAIR

Special facilities notice to South Village residents requesting and approved for winter break housing:

  • South Village will undergo a water line repair from Monday, January 3rd through and including Tuesday, January 4, 2022. The South Village A wing will not have any water during this time. South Village B, C, and D wings will only have cold water; hot water will be out for the entire South Village. 
  • Resident approved winter break housing in South Village A will have to make alternate arrangements for water during this time due to this scheduled repair.

WINTER BREAK REQUEST INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Open MAX.
  2. Log into your “My Housing” account.
  3. Click on Applications and click the Winter Break application.
  4. Complete the information required.
  5. You must select a reason for requesting break housing from the drop-down menu. If you select other, you must provide a brief explanation it in the next box.
  6. Select “Continue” to submit your application.
  7. You will receive a response in three (3) business days.

GENERAL WINTER BREAK INFORMATION

  • 24-hour quiet hours go into effect at 9:00 PM on Friday, December 3, 2021, and continue through 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 11, 2021.
  • The residence halls will be closed during winter break except for returning residents who have requested and been approved for winter break housing by University Housing & Conference Services.
  • Card access for all resident students will be discontinued during the winter break. Only returning residents who have requested winter break housing will have card access privileges.
  • Guests and visitation are not permitted during the break.
  • All University Administrative Offices will be closed for the holidays from Friday, December 24, 2021, until 8:00 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2022. Residence hall offices will have limited hours of operation during the break. See the front desk of your residence hall for contact information.
  • See Dining Services, Health Services, and SMC websites for hours of operation.
  • For non-urgent police and campus calls during holiday closing times dial (717) 871-4357. For fire, police, and EMS emergencies, always dial 911.
  • Students assigned to continue housing in the residence halls for spring 2022 are not required to surrender residence hall keys to the staff prior to leaving for the break nor need to move out all your belongings.
  • The Housekeeping and Facilities Management Staff will be working in the campus residence halls to perform maintenance tasks during the break that may require entrance to resident rooms. The University Housing & Conference Services staff may post a courtesy sign on your door indicating that the room is occupied during the winter break. This sign will ensure that workers will not enter your room without knocking. Please leave it in place for the duration of the winter break.
  • All students assigned to the residence hall for fall 2021 are assigned to continue in the residence halls for spring 2022 unless you have filed an official withdrawal from the University, filed and been approval for an official leave of absence for spring 2022, filed for leave of absence due to call to active military service for spring 2022, filed or been approved for study abroad for spring 2022, or are a current study abroad visa international student not returning for the spring 2022 semester. All these circumstances require that you are not registered for classes at Millersville University for spring 2022.

WINTER BREAK PREPARATION PROCEDURES

The residence hall staff will conduct health and safety inspections in each residence hall suite at the start of the winter break. Please carefully review the following instructions and information to avoid violations of the Student Code of Conduct for improper maintenance of your residence hall suite/room.

Prior to the start of the break, all resident students MUST:

  • Dispose of all trash by removing it to the dumpster in the parking lots outside your residence hall.
  • Clean the room/suite including sweeping the floor and wiping down furniture.
  • Clean your bathroom and report any issues with constant run toilets, sinks, showers to the residence hall staff.
  • Remove food from your refrigerator and properly dispose of it through proper trash removal.
  • Defrost your refrigerator.
  • If you are leaving for the break, turn off the lights.
  • If you are leaving for the break, set the thermostat to 70 degrees.
  • If you are leaving for the break, close and lock your room window (Villages).
  • If you are leaving for the break, lower the blinds halfway but leave them open.
  • If you are leaving for the break, lock your bedroom door and your suite door.
  • If you are leaving for the break please move all items from your residence hall floor, especially computer equipment and any items that can be damaged by flooding.
  • If you are leaving for the break and you have an approved animal through Learning Services in your room, you must take the animal with you. You may not leave animals in the residence hall in the care of another student or staff member.
