Mark 6

Mark 6

Mark 6:3 NIV
[3] Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.

Many people still cannot accept that God sent his only son to die for our sins. They make up different reasons to deny His sovereignty. How difficult it can be to accept this free gift from God.

Mark 6:34 NIV
[34] When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.

Two things stand out to me in this passage “he had compassion on them.” Jesus has compassion for everyone. He does not judge. He just loves and has compassion. We should do likewise. I am also struck by “they were like sheep without a shepherd.” So many people are still lost today. They are looking for something to fill an empty life but for some reason still have not accepted Christ into their life.

Mark 6:33,36-37 NIV
[33] But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. [36] Send the people away so that they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.” [37] But he answered, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “That would take more than half a year’s wages ! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?”

Another simple command, “you give them something to eat !” I think this command is similar to the command that Jesus gives to Peter, “feed my sheep.” In other words share the good news of the Gospel of Peace with others. How are you sharing the News of John 3:16-17?
