Fall Activities

Keeping with the theme of this week’s E-blast, our Global Ed activities this month also align with the change of seasons. Virtually everyone in America loves autumn, not only for the milder weather but also for all the fun activities that fall entails.

If you’re looking for something to do  this month, we might be able to help:

  • Pick/carve a pumpkin – Global Ed will be hosting a pumpkin carving party on October 20 at 7:00 pm! If you are unable to attend, or would just like to carve more pumpkin, this is a great fall activity that is relatively cheap and tons of fun. See our article on Pumpkin Carving 101 for tips on how to carve the spookiest pumpkin.
  • Go on a hayride or visit a corn field – once again, Global Ed is hosting their corn maze and campfire event on Friday, October 14 at 6:00 pm. The cost is $5 a student and you must sign up by Wednesday October 12 if you are interested in coming. If not, there are plenty of corn mazes and hay rides around the Lancaster area that makes for a perfect fall weekend activity.
  • Apple Picking – if there are two foods we love most in the fall, they are pumpkins and apples. Apples are perfect for eating this time of year, and when you can pick them yourselves right off of the tree, they taste even better. Visit Cherry Hill Orchards right down the road or any local farmers stand for some fresh apples. Be sure to try some delicious apple cider as well, served hot or cold.
  • Hiking – hiking is great this time of year because it is not too hot. You won’t sweat through your shirt while you enjoy the changing colors of fall. Check out local spots around campus to hike and truly experience nature this fall, like Chickie’s Rock!
  • Trick-or-Treat/Halloween – We may be too old to go trick-or-treating, but we’re never too old to be in the Halloween spirit. Buy or make a costume, and wear it while you hand out candy to kids in your neighborhood. If you do not have this option, dress up and find a fun Halloween party to attend with friends and have a spooktacular time! Halloween movie nights are also great. The only thing better than watching scary movies around Halloween is watching them with friends (it is also a lot less scary this way.)

These are just a few of the countless fall activities that honor tradition here in the USA. Try a few out and you’ll quickly realize why American’s love Fall the most!
