Corn Mazes and Campfires

Join Global Ed for a Night of Corn Mazes and Campfires!

On Friday, September 30, Global Ed and other international students are adventuring to Cherry Crest Farms to navigate their way through a corn maze. If that isn’t challenging enough, we will be doing this at night, with only the light from our flashlights to guide us through the 10 foot tall stalks of corn.

What is a corn maze? A corn maze is a giant field of corn that has been cut into a design. The goal is to make it from the entrance, to the exit without getting caught at a dead end. If you do hit a dead end, you will have to backtrack to find a new way out. It’s physical as much as mental, but eventually everyone makes it out. There will also be workers throughout the maze to give you hints if you need it.

Working your way through a corn maze is enough to work up your appetite, so we will be having a campfire right after the maze and roasting some S’mores. S’mores are a very messy but delicious American delicacy. You roast a marshmallow on a stick above the campfire until it is golden brown. While the marshmallow is still hot, you squish it between 2 pieces of graham crackers and a chunk of chocolate. The heat from the marshmallow melts the chocolate and this creation is called a S’more. These desserts are a must at any campfire and make for a great year-round treat! If you have never had one, you definitely will not want to miss out on this sweet experience.
