Learning by Doing 3D Modeling

Coming into 3D modeling, I did have a little background in using a program called blender but never really got into using it too often. I would also say that I’m good with computer programs as I have my own personal PC that I run many different applications on. Blender is definitely different from the program we used in class as I was not very familiar with it, and it took me a long time to get used to where all the tools were and all the hotkeys that were available. My experience with the building of the Lego was decent but a couple of weird things that the program does tripped me up a couple times. I overall pushed through those trip ups and was able to make what I thought was a very good model with the limited amount of time we had and lack of experience on my part. I did really enjoy using the program and learning how to use all the stuff it offers and will definitely use more of modeling throughout my career here at Millersville. I will need to learn a lot more of modeling for next semester as I’m going to take 241 Drafting and I have seen that a lot of the class is about 3D modeling on computers, so I’m excited to learn more about the program. Overall, this was one of the more interesting LBD assignments and I really enjoyed what we learned in class and I am hoping to learn more in the future.
