WHAT IS GRIT?
GRIT is passion and perseverance for long-term and meaningful goals. It is the ability to persist in something you feel passionate about and persevere when you face obstacles. For many students today, being in college is more difficult than ever before. Developing “grit” can be a means to succeed.
WHAT IS GRIT FOR FAMILIES?
Your student will be invited to a GRIT session during orientation. We want to give you the tools to help them make the most of the information. During this dynamic and engaging session you will 1) learn to be an advocate for your college student, 2) discover the most critical piece of advice for the average college student and, 3) develop a growth mindset so you can empower your student to succeed.
REGISTER NOW AND RECEIVE A FREE GIFT FOR YOUR STUDENT
After you register for a GRIT for Families presentation, we will provide your student with a free (retail value: $19.99) access code to complete the CliftonStrengths assessment.
CliftonStrengths is a Web-based personal development tool built upon positive psychology. It identifies patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior at which we excel and encourages us to use the related “talents” more intentionally to create success in all aspects of our lives. It supports the University’s efforts to promote GRIT by giving your student a tool to increase persistence and supports a growth mindset by building on what they already do well.
