Our New Community Blog
Have you been looking to discuss social issues impacting your community? Have you been looking for a platform to tell your story and create a change in the community? Look no further: this blog is perfect for you.
The Engage for Change Journal is a community journal affiliated with Millersville University. We aim to discuss important political, social, and economic issues both in the Lancaster county region and all of Pennsylvania. We hope to highlight the voices of everyone, whether you’re a student, faculty, alumni, or member of the community. Our journal seeks to promote and support a culture of compassionate engagement, and every issue we continue to grow and expand our reach and readership.
I’m Madison Reisinger, the current Marketing and Outreach Specialist intern for the Engage for Change Journal! This is the first-ever post for our new blog — and the first in a series. Not only will there be posts, but this blog will also provide a new online venue for previous, current, and potential authors and our readers to discuss the topics connected to the current theme through the Discussion Forum feature.
This feature gives community members the opportunity to connect with one another, contribute to the discussion of important issues facing our community, and engage with the hope of creating positive changes where we live. You can also connect with the staff members of the journal, reaching out with any questions or ideas you may have, such as questions about writing for us, ideas for future journal themes or an article for an upcoming issue.
For the Discussion Forum, we have a set of guidelines everyone must follow when they post. This makes the Discussion Forum a positive venue for everyone to connect and aim to inspire change! Click this link to go to our Guidelines. Please keep these in mind when posting or responding!
In the next post, I’ll dive deep into the themes of our past two issues (Environmental Justice and Gender Justice), our next theme (Equity and Justice in Education), and the following theme (Mental Health and Wellbeing: Justice for All). Our next issue will be released in Spring 2025! Our authors discuss various topics, such as arming teachers in schools, funding in education, sexism in education, and other various issues.
Please also follow our Instagram @engageforchangejournal for great content and posts leading up to the release! Comment there and tell us your thoughts or any issues you feel passionate about with our upcoming theme below or in the Discussion Forum!
