I chose Millersville because of how comfortable the campus felt, and all the amazing opportunities they had for all their students.
Why did you choose Digital Communication and Cultural Studies?
After a challenging two years of trying to get adjusted to college, I felt that my past majors closed in and had none to few options for the career I wanted. So, I picked digital communication and cultural studies for the multiple job opportunities.
Can you tell us about your major?
So, I major in digital communication and cultural studies and minor in photography. My major helps me bring out the creative side of communication to my light.
Were you always a digital communication and cultural studies major?
No, in my freshman year, I was a Psych major and in my sophomore year, I was a History Education major.
What is your goal after graduating?
My goal after graduating is to get a job in social media management for a big company or get involved in filmmaking.
Do you feel that digital communication and cultural studies can make a difference in local communities?
I feel like digital communication and cultural studies can make a difference in local communities. I believe with a DCCS degree you get many opportunities in news outlets which will help the communities be more informed of what’s happening around them.
What clubs are you a part of that connect with digital communication and cultural studies? If none, why didn’t you get involved and would you go back and change that?
No, I haven’t seen any clubs that really interest me. I feel there needs to be more clubs that give the students a platform to be creative.

No, I haven’t heard of any!
What professors and/or advisers have benefited you the most?
Mr. Machado has made an impact on me. He teaches Media Arts Production. I have benefitted from him and his class because the class is very hands-on, and he gives great feedback.
What does a typical day look like as a digital communication and cultural studies major?
On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I wake up at 8 am to get ready for my 10 o’clock Media Arts Production class, where I learn and participate in making a newscast, in this project I am the Weather talent, so I get to talk in front of some big lights and camera. Then I have my interpersonal class where we talk about the different types of communication one can partake in.
